Meet Monika Koustubha — Founder, Mokuit
Mokuit was born from a simple belief: the products we use every day should be better for people, better for businesses, and better for the planet. I am Monika Koustubha, a Pulp & Paper professional with over a decade of experience in the paper and specialty chemicals industry. With a degree in Pulp & Paper Technology from IIT Roorkee, India my career has given me a deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, chemicals, sustainability, and the challenges industries face while trying to move towards more responsible alternatives. Over the years, I worked closely with paper mills, businesses across different applications and the country, gaining deep insight into materials, manufacturing and sustainability and one thing became increasingly clear to me — sustainability cannot remain just a conversation. It has to become a part of the products we choose, manufacture, use and replace. That thought became the foundation of Mokuit. I wanted to create a brand that goes beyond simply calling something “eco-friendly.” For me, sustainability means asking deeper questions: What is the product made from? What chemicals are involved? Is it safe for people? Can it replace plastic? What happens to it after use? And can we make responsible choices without compromising on quality, functionality or aesthetics?
Why Mokuit?
Mokuit is my effort to bring together science, sustainability and thoughtful design. We curate and develop products made from more responsible materials — alternatives that can help reduce our dependence on conventional plastic and other materials that create a long-term environmental burden. From sustainable tableware and packaging to everyday lifestyle products, our goal is to make sustainable choices simple, practical and beautiful. I believe sustainability should not feel like a compromise. It should feel like an upgrade. Mokuit is a journey towards making better choices — one product, one business and one everyday habit at a time.—
